Sports Product

20111121-190005.jpgI was looking through the archives here when I saw something that caught my attention.

I created this poster this season to show as a sample of what can be done with a few images from a sports session. These posters are quite unique since they are each individually designed and assembled. There are no templates here so you can feel confident that your poster will be the only one of its kind!

Although youth sports are winding down, this same technique can be used for portraits and seniors too!

Miss Latoras

In my last post I wrote about High School Seniors and was asked for more samples of what’s possible from NYT with high school seniors. Well a couple of days ago I had the opportunity to meet Latoras, a senior whom which I was fortunate enough to photograph.

It was funny enough that her aunt had already mentioned how shy she was and boy was she right! Although shy, she seemed to have a ton of fun and so did I as I created something exciting and memorable for her.

The one thing that Latoras was sure about was that she wanted outdoor photos that included her car and the rest was left completely up to me. With that in mind, we began our session outdoors.

I love this angle and use it often in my work.

When I get the chance to use this outdoor location, I always try to take advantage of the landscaping and art that’s all around. In this case, the waterfall is always a big hit among everyone that sees it! I think Latoras looks amazing in the lighting of this image.

This was just one more image taken near the waterfall with a unique angle. Again, I love how angles seperate the normally “typical” photo and turns it into something spectacular.

Every teen loves cars! I always encourage teens to bring along ANYTHING that will seperate them from all the others. I like being able to create something unique for everyone I work with.

I admit, I can’t take all the credit on this one.  Fresh ideas and technology always keeps us fresh and up to date on ideas and with posing like this our options are endless.

Hats always make for very simple yet dramatic props! Just look at what a hat did for this image!

I think Latoras’ choice of outfit and this amazing backdrop made for a killer image!

Black & White has been around since our very first days of film cameras and will always have a place in photography. Latoras really looked great in this rendition of Black & White photography.

Like any teen session, a unique montage is a must have! This montage of Latoras is nothing short of BEAUTIFUL.

Seniors

In that heading, I’m referring to high school seniors and not folks over 65! Part of this blog is to show off recent projects as well as share exciting new products as well as promote what we’re doing around here. As a pro photographer, I sometimes fail at keeping clients aware of some of our offerings and capabilities. In this post, I thought I’d make you aware of our Senior Photography!

We are very excited to offer this type of photography and would like to encourage you and your family and friends to inquire about this exciting offering. Along with the standard set of prints, other options include composites, images on iPod and iPad, an awesome model program that entitles our models to receive FREE prints, Senior Portrait albums, indoor/outdoor sessions, and the ability to include all of the Senior’s school activities!

sportsFall Means Sports!

Fall is here and for most of us, that means football, soccer, and baseball! I had the pleasure of photographing a corporate softball game last week and had a ball! :)

Sports isn’t something that I have had a lot of requests for but after shooting this softball game for the past two years, I must say that it was just as rewarding as a wedding! Being a sports fan, how could one NOT have fun at such an event?

I did some research on sports photography to ensure I was well prepared for the job and while it takes a different set of discipline, the end result is the same.

From exciting composites, to enhancements, to free food, it’s treated just a little similar.

While I’ll only give a sneak peek in this posting, I will post more in just a few weeks when the tourney is played in Richland, MS.  This should prove to be just as exciting since my offerings will include video footage as well as photography!

Also you have my apologies for the fuzzy image below. You can rest assure that the original looks nothing like what you may see on your computer screen.

As a sidenote, if you are interested in me photographing your corporate or youth league, please drop me an email with your request and proposed date. I have exciting packages and composite offerings that are sure to WOW all your friends and colleagues! We offer trader cards, posters, key chains, bag tags buttons, magazine covers, and other speciality items for you to enjoy. You can see samples by visiting our Sports Page.

Do not be fooled by imitators or amateurs. The products we offer are definitely 2nd to none!

Quentessa+Michael

Remember when we met this bride just a few short weeks a go? Well here was her big day along with her husband, Michael. Just as I thought, when I arrived at the church, Tessa was quite excited and prepared to be married on this day!

When I entered the room and saw the dress hanging, I had to get a shot of it! It was beautiful!(as you can see)

Of course there must be time to document the guys hanging around and preparing for this day as well.

This image from the rear of the church really showed the elegance and ambiance the church had for a wonderful ceremony.

The moment came when he saluted his bride…

Of course I had to capture the details. These are what make you memories! I liked the color scheme and unique table settings.

Now this what I call a first dance. The lighting and expressions all came together to create my favorite of the series of dance images.

As the day began to wind down, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to create some beautiful images of the couple alone.

This set of images have to go down as among my favorites of the evening. It was natural expressions combined with a great location and dramatic lighting that resulted in the final images.

Can you call the previous image a signature of mine? I’ll let you be the judge. Backlighting has become a favorite technique of mine and I try to use it at every wedding! As you look at the results, you can see why I love this technique!

Congrats Tessa+Michael!!

PS

Here’s the final album…

Bike Ride

It’s not often that I have the opportunity to photograph commercially. Well here I had that opportunity! A friend of mine needed some images of his bike to post and compete and I was asked to take on the job.

I was given the flexibility to do as I please with this bike but that in itself can present its own set of challenges since I don’t know a think about motorcycles! I was given the freedom to choose the location and lighting scheme and he wanted to shoot during mid morning hours! Yikes! Now I was definately scratching my head :) I had to figure out a way to light this bike while competing against the harsh sunlight!

Well I scouted a location approximately a week prior to the shoot so I at least, knew the question to where we were going to shoot.

I loved the location because I had the grunge look I was after in addition to several other scenes I was able to use for contrast.

The bike lent itself very well against the sky and buildings in this image, I think.

Overall I was pleased with the final results from this shoot and so was my client and friend.

Tamitra + Robert pt.1

Tamitra + Robert were some of my best types of clients- referrals! I just love referrals because they already have a sense of what to expect, final end product, and processes. Thanks Ya’Meki!!

20110322-093857.jpg

Well we didn’t waste any time getting started on this great day! I had already scouted the location to make sure it would work so all that was left to do was to get the soon-to-be wed couple, in front of the camera.

I think my model is definitely to be different than the masses but on occasion, you really have to get to the basics especially since these are classics that mom will love.

20110322-094406.jpg

Right afterwards, though, I was looking for that unique image once again and I think I was able to capture that in the first of this set.

20110322-094617.jpg

20110322-094711.jpg

Another classic image was taken here where I just had to get low to the ground to capture this great image. The were right in tune with one another as they sat in a comfortable position as if they were in the comfort of home.

20110322-094939.jpg

In this next set of images I was looking for that wide shot that would, at the same time, show the relationship between Tamitra + Robert and I think we accomplished that here.

20110322-095208.jpg

20110322-095305.jpg

In this series, I was able to capture my favorite type of image-unrehearsed and unplanned and completely natural smiles.

20110322-095739.jpg

Here, all that was necessary was for the couple to walk and interact without any input on my part. This was the result.

Another natural capture.

The final two sets is how we ended our session. A great location with a great couple = an exciting session!
Stay tuned for this couple’s wedding in the coming weeks!

Grinnell + Johnson

I have been a part of some unique weddings and experiences and this past weekend’s wedding was one to add to the list. Before just two weeks ago, I had no idea who this couple was! This entire process was assembled in such a short amount that I was simply amazed at how beautiful things turned out in the end!

Do you remember Katrina in an earlier post? Well this is her on her wedding day – simply an amazing couple.

You can definately look in Katrina’s face that she’s very relaxed and coinfident about this special day! Her smile lasted the entire evening and you can see why.

I love her smile as she shows off her ring. The flower arrangement was especially beautiful in style and in color!

Let’s not leave out the groom. Ivon took things in stride and himself was very relaxed and confident about the day. the colors looked really sharp against his skin tone.

Here is the lucky Ivon sporting the wedding ring that is to symobolize their union together.

They’re married! This was a quick image taken immediately after the happy couple said “I do.”

It’s all in the details. This was one of the more surprising parts of the day since everything had such a late start(compared to weddings planned a year or two in advance). The details really set this wedding to the top of it’s class!

This is what happens when the DJ plays “Wobble”! The dance floor all of a sudden get crowded with young and old for a great time on the dance floor!

The first dance is alwas one of my favorite photo opportunities.

This set has to be among my favorites of Katrina on the night!

Congrats to the happy couple and thanks for allowing me to be a part of your day!

Quentessa

I was so incredibly impressed before I even pressed the shutter! As it turns out, I hadn’t met the bride before today which is not uncommon, but the attitude and our ability to come together so well was the surprising part! She was quite the character exhibiting a very happy and bubbly attitude about herself as she was like a NY Model!

It’s not often that I have a chance to work with a bride who’s very versed in the world of photography. By this I mean she’s familiar with not just what a pretty picture looks like but also the technics that go along with making that photograph! This NYT bride actually knows about off camera flash and radio triggers! lol What are the odds of that? From this fact alone, I figured this session would be a difficult one, but on the contrary, it helped to make one of the most fun and easy sessions I’ve had in a while!

I posted just a few of my fav’s here so you can see jut how easy Quetessa made this session! I had so much fun in this place that I’ve been so many times! I love the way the lines enhance this photo and the framing of the arch.

I like this set of fun shots. It’s amazing what a bare wall can do for a photograph when used preperly and with the right person in front of it.

Even the passer -bys had fun watching this free spirited bride!

The tones in this set intrigues me to no end. I like the calmness look and feel along with the subtle tones.

A beautiful dress and a simple shot that makes for a great photograph!

The weather was just perfect and the sky was blue! I thought I’d exhibit just what I saw on that day by incorporating more of the sky and an angle that is not so typical.

Now you want to talk about a true model feel? Look at how Quentessa mimics the model in the store window…HOT!

As we walked and began to get towards the end of the session, Quentessa decided to come out of her shoes and this is the result I had when I say the shoes resting atop a brick wall.

It was later in the day and the sky was low. This combination caused the sparkling effect in the fountain.

I definately couldn’t keep from including a scenic shot to show just how photographic this place is. It’s candy for any photographer! Maybe this is why there were three other photographers shooting at the very same time we were photographing!

One of my favorites from this session…

Katrina

We were headed to a familiar location with a bride that that had just recently been introduced to NYT! The day started out perfectly and Katrina was excited and ready to get our session underway.

From the very first image, I knew the day would prove to be successful!

I love shooting at this location since there are so many different things you can do with not much travel.

So how do you get a bride to turn the way you want from about 100 yards away? Sign language! lol

I think we both really enjoyed the scenery here. By this time, the temperature had dropped in the 50′s and it felt like it was in the 40′s but Katrina really wa s agood sport about it all. She never skipped a beat the entire session.

Wow! Look in those eyes and that smile! I love this set of close up images!

Now this set would probably be my favorite of the day. A dramatic sky along with a gorgeous bride make one powerful image. The wedding is just a little over a week away so stay tuned for the next set of images with Katrina!
